Located along the West River, the small mill village had developed almost fully by the mid 1800s. There is a Second Congregational Church (1817) with handsome Gothic Revival modifications, houses that are good examples of the Federal and Greek Revival styles, and a small stone arch bridge c. 1910, designed by James Otis Follett, a talented local mason.
