| Putney Village Historic District
Putney was a thriving early industrial center and has a well-preserved collection of historic buildings, including many fine examples of Federal houses. John Humphrey Noyes, the founder of Perfectionism, a utopian religious experiment, lived here. After a local uproar in 1847, Noyes fled to New York where he founded the Oneida community. |
