Castleton Historic District

Ethan Allen and Seth Warner planned their successful attack on Fort Ticonderoga at a tavern in Castleton. The historic district includes a collection of outstanding examples of Federal and Greek Revival residences, religious, and commercial buildings. There is also some of the best Federal architecture in the state. Many building were designed by Thomas Dake, a master builder who practiced in Castleton during the first half of the 19th century.
