Tunbridge Village Historic District
The well-preserved agricultural and industrial village of Tunbridge has nearly 100 historic buildings, many of which date from before 1850. Outstanding structures include the c. 1820 brick sawmill and gristmill with c. 1870 addition, three historic schoolhouses, the town hall, and a church. Located on a river meadow below the main road are the grounds of the Tunbridge Worlds Fair, organized by the Union Agricultural Society and held on this site since 1875. Most fair buildings date from 1875 to the 1940s. |
