The community of Bradford prospered during the 19th century under the leadership of the industrialist Asa Low, who used the Waits River to power his mills and brick kilns. The historic district covers much of the village and includes residential, commercial, public, and religious buildings ranging in style from Federal and Greek Revival to Italianate and Romanesque.
