The museum is located in a three-story, brick schoolhouse, built in 1861. It contains collections of early medical instruments and X-ray equipment, railroad memorabilia, household items, decorative arts, costumes, toys, Civil War memorabilia and information about the St. Albans Raid by Confederate soldiers in 1864. In addition, it contains a newly constructed, three-dimensional diorama, 18-feet in length, equipped with lights and sound, which tells the story of Lake Champlain and the history of St. Albans.
Activities include a speaker’s program on Vermont history, the second Monday of the month, March through December, at 7:00 p.m. Send or call for program.
